Brand : Defelsko
The PosiTest LPD is a robust, low-voltage (wet sponge) holiday detector designed for non-destructive inspection of thin protective coatings applied over metal and concrete substrates. It is optimized to quickly identify pinholes, cracks, and other discontinuities (holidays) that could compromise substrate integrity and lead to early corrosion or failure.

PosiTest® LPD
+ FAQs
What is a low-voltage pinhole detector used for?
It is a non-destructive instrument used to find discontinuities, pinholes, or holidays in thin non-conductive coatings (typically less than 500 μm /20 mils) applied over a conductive substrate like metal or concrete.
What is the purpose of the GroundSense feature?
The GroundSense technology visibly assures the inspector that the instrument has a reliable connection to the conductive substrate (ground), preventing tests from being conducted improperly and missing actual pinholes.
Does the PosiTest LPD require PosiSoft software for operation?
No. The PosiTest LPD is a real-time detector that does not store data and operates fully independently. It uses bright LEDs and sound to instantly indicate a coating flaw.
How is the accuracy of the PosiTest LPD verified?
Each unit includes a Long Form Certificate of Calibration showing traceability to NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology), documenting the actual readings taken on all test voltages.
Why would an inspector need to use a wetting agent with the LPD?
A wetting agent is a surfactant used to lower the surface tension of the water on the sponge, helping the solution better penetrate minute pinholes in thicker coatings to ensure the electrical circuit is completed and the flaw is detected.
